My Meeting With David Stanko

I'm ashamed to admit it but I am guilty of hair abuse. Yes I know I'm a beauty blogger for the love of pete I should be more in tune with everything beauty related. Sitting behind a computer monitor and running around the city I've relied on my pony tail holder and a can of hairspray for far too long.  Last week my card was pulled and I had to answer for my crimes.

Last week I was given the opportunity to have my hair colored by renowned colorist David Stanko and his super adorable assistant Mariano. We met at the Angelo David Salon in midtown and I instantly hit it off with Mariano, like a nervous school girl I changed into the customary black robe and waited for David.

I didn't realize how neglected my hair was and David had no problem telling me how bad it was. LOL with one eyebrow raised he straight up told me it's been awhile since coloring huh, with my head hung in shame I admitted it had been awhile. He looked over my mop with critically eyes, and smiled. He isn't what I expected at all, he's so down to earth very charismatic and HONEST. David told me straight out my color isn't working but I didn't need to go all dramatic. He warned me to stay away from coppers and anything light. He said I should embrace my natural color and added some darker more subtle lowlights to give my hair more depth and pop.

Here is a little video I made during the whole process.

It's choppy I know but I'm putting it all out there in my craziness. Head full of aluminum foil, and that is THE David Stanko working on my hair. I listen to my voice and I"m so nasal ew...

I've been trying to get a good picture of my "after" hair but in true Aimee fashion my camera has died and I just upgraded to the new iPhone so I'm still learning how to play with it. I do promise to post some pictures of my gorgeous hair.

David and Mariano completely changed my outlook on hair. It's an extension of who I am, another way to express my beauty and my individuality. Mariano said I have great healthy hair and I should display it for the world. It's a statement I couldn't make before because I didn't believe in it. I hated my hair, David and Mariano gave me the ability to wear my hair out with pride.

The duo are fabulous and I plan on going back to them during the Thanksgiving holiday for a touch up and a glaze treatment, soon as they open up his calendar. David is the kind of colorist you can count on for years, always honest with your best interest at heart. At the moment he's working out of the Angelo David Salon which is so convenient for everyone, it's right on 42nd and Vanderbilt took me 15 minutes to get there, please if your looking for an colorist who is charismatic and beyond talented (seriously check out the look book on his website) than you need to go see David!!! Tell them Aimee says hi!!!
